Thermoset Compression Molded Emergency Oxygen Housing for Aerospace Industry
We are experts in complex thermoset compression molding projects that involve intricate detail. At MCM Composites, LLC, we can work with unique requirements that push the boundaries in manufacturing and material capabilities. This includes working with unique or exotic materials for compression molding, readily adhering to intensive design standards required by our customers. It is especially true for the aerospace industry, where there are extraordinary design standards that must be met for both safety and reliability purposes.
We manufactured a complex emergency molded oxygen housing made from a specialized material to meet both FAA and EASA smoke and toxicity requirements. Using Sheet Molded Compound (SMC), the housing’s primary features were machined according to stringent specifications. It measured 18″ x 12″ x .0.45″ with a tolerance of + 0.001″, and each unit was post-processed by de-flashing and deburring. We confirmed all measurements according to the customer’s CAD design and made sure to visually and dimensionally inspect the units prior to shipping.
Over a period of 2 weeks, we produced over 500 units for our customer. This was MCM’s most complex manufacturing job to date. Thanks to the expertise of our team, our ISO 9001:2015 compliance standards, and unrivaled professionalism, the project was a huge success.
